About the Loy Foundation & The Bottling Works

The Loy Foundation was born from an extraordinary convergence. Lifelong Hampshire County educators A. Clinton Loy—superintendent of schools from 1935–1960 and a published author—and his wife Henrietta had no children, but a shared vision: to fund a local museum and performance gallery celebrating arts, history, and community. Upon their passing, their will established what would become the Loy Foundation, tasking a small group to realize that dream.

The couple left their home, possessions, and funds to create the Hampshire County Historical & Arts Museum. When the board first gathered, it was clear the home couldn’t serve the public. At the same time, the historic Coca-Cola Bottling Works in downtown Romney, WV—lovingly curated as a Coke memorabilia museum by Mike and Linda Smith—was closing and headed to market. The timing was perfect. The newly formed Foundation acquired the building, preserving its industrial character and transforming it into what is now The Bottling Works Event Center: a museum-inspired, performance-ready venue where culture and community meet.

Today, thanks to dedicated directors and partner members, The Bottling Works welcomes weddings, concerts, theatrical productions, corporate events, and community celebrations in an iconic, historic setting. Experience the legacy of the Loys—and make your own history—at The Bottling Works Event Center in Romney, West Virginia.

Welcome to The Bottling Works—where heritage takes the stage.
